Abstract

Financial literacy is an essential life skill that should be introduced from an early age to foster healthy financial habits. Children need to understand the function of money, distinguish between needs and wants, and recognize the importance of saving. This community service activity aimed to provide financial literacy education through a interactive saving movement for children at Madrasah Diniyah Awaliyah (MDA) in Bintang Mersada Village. The activity engaged a total of 25 student participants through storytelling, Q&A sessions, simple budget allocation games, and hands-on saving practice using piggy banks. Evaluation was conducted descriptively using direct behavioral observation during the activity. The results showed high participant enthusiasm, with 100% of children actively participating in quizzes and demonstrating immediate basic understanding by correctly classifying primary school needs versus impulsive wants. While direct observation confirmed immediate comprehension and short-term motivation, long-term habit formation remains a limitation requiring sustained parental support. Ultimately, early financial education serves as a foundational step toward building disciplined, frugal, and Islamically aligned financial management behavior.
