Korespondensi Grafem-Fonem pada Tataran Grafem Vokal Terikat Tes Membaca Aksara Bali Siswa SMP
Abstract
This research aims to determine the ability of students at SMP Negeri 6 Singaraja to map grapheme-phoneme language units correctly. The subjects of this research were students from SMP Negeri 6 Singaraja whose samples were taken from classes VII, VIII and IX. The object of this research is grapheme-phoneme correspondence at the level of bound vowel graphemes. This research is a type of qualitative descriptive research in the field of grapholinguistics. The data collection technique for this research is to carry out a basic vocabulary-based Balinese script reading test. Data processing was carried out by mapping students' reading results and then determining the grapheme-phoneme correspondence in the collection of vocabulary used for the Balinese script reading test. The data obtained will be analyzed for errors and grouped according to the error category. The research results showed that there were students' errors in reading Balinese script at the bound vowel grapheme level. These errors are influenced by various factors, namely psychological factors (motivation), reading materials, students' knowledge of Balinese script, as well as the influence of the habit of reading the letters of the alphabet. From the results of this research it can be concluded that students' ability to read Balinese script is classified as very good but still needs to be improved. It is hoped that this research will be able to have an influence on the learning of Balinese script in schools so that language skills, especially reading, will be better.
