Jejak Dunia Anak dalam Novel Kita Pergi Hari Ini Karya Ziggy Zezsyazeoviennazabrizkie: Kajian Properti Size Dunia Mungkin Marie-Laure Ryan
A Study of the Size Property on Possible World by Marie-Laure Ryan
Abstract
The novel Kita Pergi Hari Ini (KPHI) by Ziggy Zezsyazeoviennazabrizkie constructs a children's world through transfictional operations that expand the storyworld's size based on Marie-Laure Ryan's possible worlds theory. This study aims to describe the forms of transfictional operations that build traces of the children's world and their role in expanding the size of the storyworld in KPHI. The study employs a descriptive qualitative method with a contemporary narratological approach based on Marie-Laure Ryan's possible worlds theory, particularly the size property through transfictional operations. Data in the form of narrative text and dialogue excerpts containing markers of transfictional operations were collected through identification, classification, and analysis based on Ryan's five categories of transfictional operations. The results show that the size of KPHI's storyworld is constructed through five transfictional operations: extension in Hansel and Gretel, Puss in Boots, and Little Red Riding Hood; modification in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, The Storks, and Heng O Flees to the Moon; transposition in The Nightingale; mash-up in Kakawin Sumanasāntaka and the Moon Rabbit folktale; and embedding in Snow White and Doraemon. Three consistent patterns of transfictional work selection are identified: works centered on children, fable works featuring intelligent animal characters, and popular works recognized across cultures and generations. These three patterns render the expansion of KPHI's storyworld size not merely a quantitative addition of information, but a thematically directed and coherent expansion through its interconnection with children's worlds from European, East Asian, and Indonesian literary traditions, so that traces of the children's world function as a narrative mechanism that actively constructs the size of KPHI's storyworld as a possible world. This study contributes to the development of contemporary narratological research in Indonesian children's literature, particularly in applying possible worlds theory as an analytical approach to storyworld construction that has not been widely used in children's literary research in Indonesia.
