Gen AI Policy
Jurnalistrendi: Journal of Linguistics, Literature, and Education establishes this policy to ensure that the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in the writing, review, and publication of scholarly articles is conducted ethically, transparently, and in accordance with accepted academic standards.
1. Purpose of the Policy
This policy aims to provide clear guidance on the responsible use of Generative AI tools in scholarly publishing and to safeguard academic integrity, originality, and accountability in all stages of the publication process.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, peer reviewers, and any other contributors engaged in the preparation, evaluation, and publication of manuscripts submitted to Jurnalistrendi.
3. Principles of Generative AI Use
- Generative AI may be used only as a supportive tool and must not replace the author’s academic competence, critical thinking, or scholarly responsibility.
- The use of AI must not violate publication ethics, compromise originality, or produce invalid, fabricated, or misleading data.
- Authors bear full responsibility for the originality, accuracy, validity, and integrity of the manuscript content.
4. Permitted Uses of Generative AI
- Improving grammar, spelling, and writing style.
- Generating non-substantive summaries that do not alter scientific meaning.
- Assisting in the development of an initial outline or structural framework.
- Supporting textual analysis without manipulating or fabricating research data.
5. Prohibited Uses of Generative AI
- Generating research data, simulations, or empirical findings not based on original data.
- Producing an entire manuscript using AI without substantial scholarly contribution from the author.
- Using AI to fabricate citations, references, or quotations.
- Engaging in plagiarism or self-plagiarism arising from AI-generated content.
6. Disclosure of AI Use
Authors are required to disclose the use of Generative AI tools in the Acknowledgments or Author’s Note section of the manuscript. An example disclosure statement is provided below:
“The authors used a Generative AI tool (e.g., ChatGPT) in a limited capacity for language editing purposes without affecting the scientific content of this article.”
7. Ethical Responsibility
Authors must ensure that the use of Generative AI does not infringe copyright, violate data privacy, or contravene academic and research ethics standards.
8. Actions for Policy Violations
Violations of this policy may result in corrective actions, including mandatory revision, manuscript rejection, or article retraction if the violation is discovered after publication.
9. Policy Review and Updates
This policy will be reviewed and updated periodically to reflect advancements in Generative AI technology and evolving standards in publication ethics.
